It was great, and Travis Ford's decision to grab the mic after the game and thank everyone was smart and deserved. The students, especially, deserve credit. They arrived early and remained energetic throughout. I said before the game that it felt important for SLU to win, because a win means this crowd will be back again and again. It's growing. Ford can feel it. That arena has the chance to be one of the best in college hoops, environment wise. It's the perfect size. It serves booze, which makes a big difference in fan involvement, believe me. And the students have bought in. Keep winning, and it will be rocking.
Who says they are being gun shy? They alone don't get to dictate the timeline. If anyone should be gun shy, it's the Diamondbacks. They are considering trading the player they have made the face of their organization. That is not a decision made easily, and it gets harder as the pulling of the trigger nears.
Scroll down. We hit on it.
Yes. He's in. One-year deal.
There is really no reason to frame the expectations now. Wainwright could get hurt. Heck, Hudson could get hurt. Something always happens. Best way to look at it is the Cardinals have about two handfuls of guys who could start. Some have a head start. Waino is one of them. The rest, we wait and see.
What a surprise that would be.
Every smart postseason team as a basepath burner who can steal bases left and right when needed. And between Bader and right field, there could be some need for depth in the outfield, especially if that depth includes something really rare, like elite speed. I like the Hamilton idea for the Cardinals, despite his offense or lack thereof.
Homework assignment: Look up what each accomplished through his age-25 season in the majors, then compare them as players. Take off the WAR blinders.
A lot of "if" would have to happen for that approach to become a possibility. First off, Arenado would have to hit the market. He might want to stay in Colorado. The Rockies are trending in the right direction. They have young talent. They finally have some pitching. The Rockies should fight like crazy to keep him and lock him up long-term. It's also worth mentioning the Cardinals have some prospects in the pipeline that could be a long-term answer at third base. Elehuris Montero, Nolan Gorman and Malcolm Nunez have impressed the Cardinals.
Here we go: I'm going to take Mizzou. I probably should not, considering some of their worst performacnes have come after some time off. But, I think Lock is on a mission. I think having Hall back is a huge help too. Remember, he didn't play in 3 of the 4 losses. And he didn't play in last season's Texas Bowl loss either. I think Mizzou has more to prove than the Cowboys.
Yep. I read that. It was a good article and good story idea in general.
Ten-minute warning, my friends. Shoot them if you've got them.
