Pretty amazing, right? I thought JT's story about Binnington's rise compared to Kurt Warner's, as only JT could tell it, really nailed it. You can't make this stuff up. I've found myself saying that a lot about these Blues. They defy logic in so many ways.
Albert O, if he stays healthy and plays like up to his ability.
What a great chance this is for him. Wieters takes pressure off of him. He gets to learn from both Molina and Wieters for a spell. To use a Goldy Locks reference, Carson Kelly's climb toward the majors might have been a bit too hot on the Molina timeline. Knizner feels just right. No need to rush Knizner. Eager to see how he hits at this level during his taste.
We hit on this earlier in the chat. You make a fair point, but when is the last time the Cardinals moves swiftly to cut ties with a pitcher who has been part of their team for many years. I imagine Wacha will get a few more shots to find some sort of role in the bullpen before the Cardinals cut ties.
Not really, because there is so much time between the draft day of the players and their impact/arrival in the major leagues. It's different when the league has guys jump from drat day to their major league teams.
I'll just echo what I said before the season. It didn't really make sense for the Cardinals to add "a" starter. Add "the" starter. The depth is there to fill holes and patch tires if needed. Go get top-three starter who forces some in the rotation down and makes your bullpen better as a result. That was how I felt then and now.
I don't like how they sic their attack dogs on people who try push back against treating people poorly. On their best days, they are funny. They are clearly good at creating content and building an audience. They're making money. Good! Newspapers could learn a lot from this. But they can do these things without belittling people and crushing people in waves who point that out. That's all. And I think the people running it are smart enough to know that, but it's part of the brand and it's good for business. Internet bullying is a weird thing, and the best at it convince their crowd that they are the ones getting bullied. The internet is a strange place.
Gotta run, folks. Need to pack and get ready for a flight to Boston. Talk next week!
