I have not seen it, but I have Netflix. Sounds like that could be my Saturday afternoon. I have been meaning to see that.
Not really. People venting spleens can get ugly. I prefer to live on the sunny side of life.
Yes, the Blues are "activating" their defense this season. That is why they are getting leads. No, that shouldn't create problems holding a lead because players need to adjust their game to the scoreboard. I don't believe they are coughing up leads because the D-man are gambling up ice; I believe they have suffered some breakdowns when desperate teams turn up the pressure on them. They need to stay within their system and keep moving their feet when they are trying to close out a game. As Yeo noted, sometimes they start flailing at the puck when under duress.
Of course the team wants to contend this season. And getting somewhat healthier could help that. But the coming talent does color what sort of rental team this team would make. You won't trade Thomas or Kyrou to get a 20-goal scorer for a month.
Sure, adding a Top 10 forward would make them better. But New York has young D-men sitting as it is. I can't imagine a trade fit there. And trading for JT would mean you have to sign him to max contract. A rental deal here doesn't make sense -- since keeping all that young talent on entry-level money would be allow this team to build its deepest and most talented team in a long time.
Carl could have value, given his high level of play and fair contract. The others have no value until they actually produce at this level.
Agreed. If he can score 50 points again, that would be huge. And given his contract, it's what the team expects.
So far all the position players are getting minutes. The situation for goaltenders is less rosy.
Yeah, it's a cliche phrase. But for chat purposes, it's shorter than "maximum performance projection" or "optimal career outcome"/
That is news to me. Lots of volunteer trolls out there. I dealt with them for years in these chats, too.
Let's see if Dunn suffers a relapse at some point. If he keeps getting better, there will be no reason to send him down. He does stuff the others can't do. He flashes Shattenkirk-like offensive potential.
I have not broached that topic with him.
Thompson could return to fill that third line role at some point. Defensively he knows what he is supposed to do, he just needs to react more quickly and decisively. Same goes for the offensive end where he needs to get the puck and shoot it. That is his NHL-ready tool.
Russia will be loaded. Kovalchuk and Datsyuk are tearing up the KHL.
Hey, I wish I was a beer league guy. Those guys have a lot of fun. And they get to hit people with sticks from time to time.
If you can get Stastny for shorter term, that would buy time for the kids. Otherwise, like you say, you can go out and pay a Turris way more than you want.
No. Yeo is a big Prosser fan. I am surprised the team kept Butler, since he essentially fell out of their plans.
Schenn is effective as a slot shooter, which filled a void. That allows Tarasenko to roam from side to side and it creates space for Stastny down low as well.
In theory, yes, but the Blues want more from Edmundson too. He is not at the level that he reached in the playoffs last year.
Yeah, there is not much finish with Oskar and Magnus. This is a great chance for them and they need to do something with it.
