He's playing 25 minutes a game (8th most in the league). He's a minus-9, but that includes the minus-5 in Columbus, so you throw out that one game and it doesn't look so bad. I think he's looked pretty good this season, plus he's done this in the past where his plus-minus isn't great at the start of the year but he finds a way to get it up by the end of the year.
It's only been a couple of days, so hard to tell what they've gathered so far. But I spoke with the crew and they seem to think this is a good group and they've been excited about some of the footage they've gathered already. They've got a player or two mic'd every game and tonight is their blowout game, so when the episode airs, you'll see a lot from this game against the Devils. I'm like a fan here, looking forward to the show.
Backes: 23 games, 7 goals, 12 points .... Oshie: 18 games, 8 goals, 12 points ... Elliott: 3-9-1, 3.31 GAA, .885 save-percentage ... Brouwer: 30 games, 6 goals, 13 points
For those that don't know, you're referring to the Vegas Golden Knights, who are being challenged in court for their name. I don't think this is going to be a big issue, and I do think they'll keep their name, but yeah, if the NHL and the team had a year to get this straight and legal, it's hard to believe that there's a story here.
Not in near future. Hitch likes Parayko on the right better than the left, and I don't see Pietrangelo moving.
Those were a couple of good games too. In regards to game-planning against the Blues, I don't think the lack of identity leaves the opponents at a disadvantage. They know who the players are, and it's more about them than the system or the identity. You're not worrying about a David Backes in front of the net, but you're worrying about a Vladimir Tarasenko getting open in the slot. I'm sure there are some subtleties I'm not aware of that coaches are noticing and adjusting too, but I think it's more about the players.
It wasn't going to be, but now I'm hearing it will be.
We are up in one of the ends. It's not your normal pressbox view, but it's not bad.
Good for you, I'm the Russian fans love the info, particularly on Tarasenko. I didn't know I was going to get a question about Angella today, but I come prepared for everything. Yes, she is "True Blue." She has been going that job for awhile now and knowing her a little bit, it's more of a passion than a job. You should look her up and write an article. If you do, send it along.
Yikes. Parayko does a lot and is inexpensive. How are you paying for this No. 1 center and Shattenkirk?
Well, I've got to work tonight, so drink one for me.
It always happens. You lose a top guy and everyone buckles down and plays a north-south game, plays simple and usually the record is a lot better than what you think.
I believe the NHL expansion draft is June 20-23 and the amateur draft is on the June 23.
Stay tuned. I'll be writing about this in a Blues Insider sometime soon, and I'll be able to go more in-depth.
Yes, my first and I can't wait. I grew up in St. Louis and I'm a baseball fan, too, so it combines a little of everything ... my city, my job, Blues-Blackhawks, friends are excited. It'll be quite a thrill!
It's far from ideal. He needs to be playing, but he's on that edge. He hasn't done enough to be in the lineup and the Blues don't want to lose him on waivers. That's what happens with a one-way contract. It's not good at all for his development.
Thanks Mark, that's some good advice. Thanks to everyone for the questions. I hope I didn't make anybody dumber over the last two hours. Have fun watching the game tonight and be sure to read the Post-Dispatch and STLtoday.com tomorrow for the latest coverage on your favorite team. The Post-Dispatch pay a lot of money for me to be here on the road and get first-hand information from the team. At a time when many newspapers and websites have unfortunately closed their doors, I don't take it for granted and neither should the rest of us. Please pick up a paper at the story when you can or subscribe to the website and help keep the coverage flowing. Thank!
