I don't know that he'd be playing if this were the regular season. It's already been reported that he's been wearing a boot away from the rink. And it's one thing to miss a practice here and there, but he is not practicing at all ... full practice, morning skate practice, mini-sticks, bubble hockey, anything.
That's a good question. The first thing that comes to my mind is that others have to produce. If others are scoring, the Wild have to defend them and it opens the ice for Tarasenko. If they're not, they can close on him. I'm still amazed that Ovechkin still sits in that familiar spot wide open. Granted a lot of times it's on the power play, but not all the time. But again, part of the reason is because Backstrom can beat you, Oshie can beat you, etc. That makes a difference.
It was a good, clean hit. Did Pietrangelo go out of his way to make it? Yeah, but it wasn't interference. But you could tell on the video, with time winding down, that Pietrangelo said I'm going to deliver this hit. He didn't have to, but it's hockey. I wasn't surprised to see the other team point it out. That always happens in the playoffs.
Like others have said, no one wants to get ahead here. But you're right, that series would be a lot of fun. The two teams have have had some good battles but I think a playoff round would take it to another level. I thought we were going to get it last year, which would have been cool with Jackman on Nashville's roster, but the Preds lost. They are playing great right now and it would be some series. And we haven't even mentioned yet that there are some places that serve drinks nearby and there's a greasy spoon that's open until 4 am.
I talked to Bouwmeester, but he didn't say anything out of the ordinary. It's the playoffs, he said. I'll put his thoughts in a blog or notebook soon.
Lower-body injury. He says he'll be rejoining the team in practice soon.
I don't know exactly. There were late starts last year, but as you said, it was the Hawks. So not sure why, good weather in STL? I would think they'll come up. It's a fun team to watch and you don't know what's going to happen. As I mentioned earlier, you'd watch anyway, but it's all kind of surprising and that brings an added element for me.
Two more questions and then I'm going to get out of the world's most depressing mall. Actually, I take that back, all malls are depressing, but this one especially.
I've been called everything in the book but Jeremitrius! I like it! I would say Father Mike @msgrmike ... let's get him some followers. Big Blues fan and a good guy! (I'm only saying this because he sent me a care package with Pringles. And because he's a Father and I'd like him to put in a few good words about me with the Big Guy!)
And that'll wrap it up. Thanks for the questions. Enjoy the game Saturday and join me again next week.
