Excellent questions. Don't you think Binnington has to be at least in the $3 million range? Maybe more. Especially since he's arbitration eligible. Just as big of a question is do the Blues try to go long-term with Binnington or bridge contract? As for Allen, tough to tell. He told me the other day he hasn't thought at all about next season. If you're the Blues, are you totally sold at this point on Binnington, enough to move Allen? A quality backup goalie is probably going to cost $2-3 million. So you're not necessarily going to save all that much by moving Allen.
Not today. Don't want to miss puck drop tonight.
I'll go check. Give me a minute.
OK, I checked the greaseboard near the Boston locker room. And strangely, it lists puck drop tonight at 7:20 p.m. Central _ or three minutes earlier than Game 1. According to the legendary Helene Elliott, who still is sitting nearby, we're starting 3 minutes earlier because the entire rosters for both teams won't be introduced tonight _ as was the case prior to Game 1.
I cannot provide official confirmation. But it would be a big surprise if it was anyone other than Fabbri. As I mentioned earlier, he has been the place-holder in practice for Thomas for a couple of weeks. And was once again,, he skated with the Maroon-Bozak line Wednesday morning. And thx for the kind words.
Couldn't agree more. And trust me on this, Craig Berube couldn't agree more. He would much prefer as he calls them "10-foot passes."
Squeeze Play _ I won't post it, but thanks. Much appreciated.
We've gone 2 1/2 hours, which is pretty good for a game day. Docket is clear. If you've got a question, now's your time.
Our staff is shrinking, but we maintain a strong commitment to covering our top beats _ the Cardinals, Blues and Mizzou. And I think as long as the interest is there, that commitment will remain. Very proud of the fact that the P-D has 4 writers and a photographer on the road in Boston for these playoffs. As for a grand sweeping view of the future of newspaper sportswriting, I think you'll get a more insightful answer from Jeff Gordon and his Friday chats.
They're doing them or all remaining road games this year. But beyond that, I don't know.
OK, as Game 2 approaches. We're going to wrap this up. Thanks for playing, and enjoy the game tonight.
