Interesting. I haven't read the convention center expansion story. Am I remembering this correctly _ wasn't there a potential tax hike involved in the soccer vote? In football, I think much of it was a Kroenke backlash, plus the fact that taxpayers were/are still paying for dome construction.
I think I read Wilson will forfeit more than $1.2 million in salary.
Sorry, I've misplaced a couple questions (and answers) today. Just like the Raiders being allowed to move to LA (despite all those Al Davis lawsuits in the past), if the league thinks it can make money by having a team back in St. Louis, they'll do it. I just don't think it's going to happen in my lifetime.
You've now got the flexibility to do both, don't you, depending on who's playing better at the time and who's the opposition.
I guess it depends on when the draft takes place _ has that been determined? Or if the expansion draft selection rules change. I believe the rule for Vegas was first_ and second-year players were exempt for selection.
Yeah, it was a little puzzling to me as well. They think his smarts and puck-moving skills make him a good fit in their system. Maybe they think they can send him down to San Antonio without him getting claimed. A sixth-round pick isn't giving up much. They do have some short-term depth issues (Bortuzzo's suspension, Edmundson's groin, Gunnarsson to miss about the first month of the season.) But it sounds like the Blues are going to give him a real chance to make the varsity. Maybe they keep eight defensemen and 13 forwards once Bortuzzo and Edmundson are back. Otherwise someone is going to have to go among Bouwmeester, Bortuzzuo, Dunn, Edmundson, Pietrangelo, Parayko and Schmaltz.
I believe some contracts have option years. Players don't reach unrestricted free agency in the NHL until they are over 27 years old or have a minimum of seven years' experience. Players are restricted free agents in the period after their entry-level contracts expire and before they reach the above qualifications to become unrestricted free agents.
I'm gonna go Blais, Thomas, Kyrou. (in that order) I think the little bit of experience that Blais picked up last season with the Blues will help.
Once Bortuzzo's suspension comes and goes and Edmundon is back in the lineup, then Butler and Mikkola go down. Remember, Thomas is too young to play in the AHL. So he either goes back to juniors or stays with the Blues.
I may have answered this one earlier, but I'll go again just in case. The Blues told me they had more than "dozens" of fraud cases at every home game, so the mobile ticket app would solve that. The Blues also told me the entire NFL has gone to mobile ticketing (granted they have only 8 regular-season and 2 preseason home games). They said about half of the NHL has gone to some form of mobile ticketing. So unfortunately, it looks like the wave of the future.
That looks like that's it for today. If you have more Blues questions, you can always knock on Jeff Gordon's door on Friday. His weekly chat begins at 1 p.m. The season is upon us. Talk to you all next week!
