The Blues and Cardinals haven't had to deal with the same issues. If next season comes around where the Blues are out in the real world like the baseball teams are now, they will compare notes. But at this point, who knows what the next NHL season looks like.
They talk all the time. I can't fathom a world where the topic hasn't come up.
Probably the same as before. Energy guy who can get your team gong and has speed, but also has a good attitude that enables him to sit for long stretches without issues. That may not be a role he wants to have, but it's what he's got, which I have to admit is more than I thought he would have three years ago. MacEachern got his chance and ran with it. Kyrou has the ability to play higher in the lineup. De la Rose is a center. Ultimately, there may not be room for both of them on the roster, especially if Kostin is getting ice time.
I don't know. They needed to get some of the younger guys into the roster and get them playing. If they knew they were going to have the injuries that they had, it would have made sense, but at some point you've got younger guys, you have to see what you've got.
I think if the Blues sign Pietrangelo, they're keeping him. And one of those teams could sign Pietrangelo as a free agent, and meanwhile open up salary cap space by trading one of their current players to someone else. That would seem to increase their return. We'll know in a couple weeks.
I have not heard anything. I'll have to ask Dan Caesar about that.
No official word. They're planning to have one but they have to sell tickets to be able to do that. No AHL games in front of empty houses.
Gunnarsson is gone after this season, so I think the Blues will side with keeping the longer-term asset. When we were talking last week, Doug Armstrong talked about Montgomery developing young players and he specifically talked of him working with Vince Dunn. So while a trade is possible, GMs like to keep assets as much as possible. Dunn can be a cost-controlled player with the Blues; teams like that.
