If they are dumped from the 40-man roster, yes.
What big promises did Mozeliak make for this deadline?
Those are all loaded teams with a real chance to win this year. And they made the sorts of deals contenders make. Nothing about this team suggested it was in that position. Anything done today had to have some longer term benefit. A lot of today's action was rental stuff.
Sure, the waivers process allows teams to sniff out possible trades. But many deals are not possible after the deadlines because the players won't clear.
As stated many times, they passed on Judge twice. It was interesting to see what they did in this year's draft, going after a raw power hitter with some creative late-round work. But, yes, going forward, they must do a better job finding power.
Again, teams need pitching and the Cardinals will have some to offer. At some point that has to pay off, right?
There are cheaper options. Also, options with more shade.
The Cardinals were open to making deals. But DeWitt is the last guy on earth that will do something to appease the chat room. That is why is more successful than every other owner, particularly relative to his market side.
OK, but brace yourself for 400 losses the next four years.
That is the way it goes for most closers. They tend to come and go.
Again, we'll see you next time!
DeWitt likes winning. And winners sell tickets. On his watch the Cards drew national criticism for overpaying Holliday and Peralta. Fowler isn't complaining about the team's commitment. And time after time the Cards have re-upped young veterans (including Lynn) rather than trade them when they got into their money years.
Adolis Garcia? Then yes that sounds fair.
We'll see, because there is nothing on the horizon right now. That staff got old and forced the Cubs to move some offense for help.
DeJong is a cut above. Bader we'll see about. Voit may just be a depth guy. Pham came up from Memphis this year and he's been terrific. I think Weaver will be a nice pitching asset.
Sorry we couldn't get to everybody, but the queue was crushed. See you next time!
