You ask a fair question. It is not my place to drum up confidence in the Cardinals. I will eagerly do what I can to explain their moves (or non-moves) to readers, and I will offer context and analysis, and I will do all the things that go into reporting and exploring and writing all about what they say they're trying to do, and what they are actually doing. I'll happily advocate for why fans and readers should care about the coverage.
If you want someone to tell the fans why they should "care" about the team, I'll leave that to others. I would urge you consider that what is said on Twitter or what is said on a chat is only a slice of the fan base, and the ticket sales are going to be the real barometer of fan confidence in the team, and for every 10 emails or questions I get that are frustrated with the Cardinals I get two asking when tickets go on sale and when the ballpark will reopen.
If they need to speak to the fans and generate confidence through the act of purchasing tickets, I welcome the Cardinals taking out an ad in the newspaper.
Our industry could use the revenue too.
