Agree that it's tough to see both Grichuk and Piscotty on this roster moving forward.
They're on the same page, yes.
My bad. Reading fast. I apologize. The numbers show what we know. Pham's had a hell of a year.
Any of them, to be honest. But it seems like Pham has secured his place. Him being paid peanuts doesn't hurt, either. Fowler has a no trade and would have to drop it. Wouldn't be that stunned if that happened, but want to make clear that's just thinking out loud, not reporting. It's been a tough year for him in a lot of ways. Maybe things click in 18.
Matheny has weaknesses. I don't think lack of motivation is one of them. I'd rank a tendency to not always play the best available players and bullpen management before motivation.
For me Grichuk would be an automatic start against the Cubs. He always hits against them. Home and away.
Flaherty is bumping up against the ceiling of his innings limit, and had not been pitching so hot lately. That was the thought process. As for going to Oh/Cecil in that spot ... I got nothing.
So many people to hold accountable, so little time
The Cardinals thought he did, and looked wise for adding him. So I'd think so, yes.
C-Mart's fielding issues are puzzling AND frustrating. He's such a good athlete. Gotta make those plays.
Maybe. But the company line as of this week is he's the man for the future.
DeJong, Pham and the other Memphis call-ups have been the silver lining, for sure.
I'd swap it for the Cubs. Then I'd need to do some more research. Since the All-Star break the Cardinals are second in the NL in runs per game at 5.01. Third in average (.264), second in OBP (.345) and fourth in SLG (.435). So, I guess my answer is no. This team improved as pieces were called up. It's still missing a thumper, or a bat that elevates. But things have improved.
You forgot chatters who don't chat fast enough.
OK gang, I'm spent. And things are moving forward here at the ballpark. Thanks a ton for stopping by. If I didn't get to your question, I apologize. Feel free to email or tweet (I'm at @Ben_Fred). Thanks for stopping by! See you next time.
