A departure from the model, a break from the plan, and an indication that the farm system is threadbare and won't support annual contention or that a strong farm system is being misused. He wants 90+ wins, and while 88 one year and 95 the next statisfues that a string of 88, 80, 75 does not. That's the point.
That is not a reason, no.
He was gathering steam, yes. Playing well. Playing regularly. These are related.
I don't like the odds on that combo.
It would seem redundant. Written that story. Looking for a better one.
Very true. There are several teams exercising the elasticity of the DL, and yes the Dodgers are a team deserving of scrutiny. The Cardinals, for what it's worse, have not done that with Piscotty, and few players have had more treacherous trips 'round the bases this season.
News ... Scar tissue broke in Wong's elbow. Receiving a cortisone. Then back to work.
Wong: scar tissue broke up in left elbow, set to receive treatment, no structural damage, expects to return when DL stint is up.
He is hoping to avoid one.
Not really sure how to answer this because in reality it is ... both. Of course, the Cardinals have discussed this and whether it's a fit. Every team without a comparable player has likely had that internal discussion. It's what they do. But as far as the "sleeper" thing that is pure speculation.
Jedd Gyorko is off to attend the birth of his daughter.
Like I said, speculation. I believe the actual topic was free agency and not the deadline. Questions about him are really around free agency. I should have pointed that out.
Grichuk is under control. So, the personnel would have to altered via trades and non-tender moves.
Oh, probably a few years ago with Scherzer or before that with Heyward, Price. Certainly heard a lot about Price. One-, two- years out. A-Rod for sure.
Piscotty on his way to STL right now.
#STLCards vs. Los Angeles (5/30):
J. Martinez LF
Cardinals could move Gyorko to paternity list and recall Sierra quickly from Springfield. A flight would get him to STL.
Cardinals in process of figuring out a move.
Options cover the year. He's already spent his option for this whole year, can go up and down as much as team wants.
ERA tends to be an awful way to judge a reliever over the short term.
Awaiting whether recent moves inspire that.
