It refers to the last year of their contract/control before free agency. So, the class that is coming up is the class of 2017. They become free agents in November 2017. In reality, we probably should call it the 2017-2018 class. But we mostly go with when the flag drops on the free-agent market.
I can only rely on the information that I can prove and use without uncertainty in the paper. That's my measure. Fans and other writers have settled on different standards.
Vince Coleman is helping the San Francisco Giants and, I believe, pretending to be somebody else when I call to ask him a question about being a leadoff hitter.
Time to call it a day. I try to provide quick answers and they're not quick enough, I try to keep them clear in syntax and grammar and it's never enough. Look, I'm going for fielding percentage here. Working without a net.
Talent. Athleticism. Better position for him. Big year to prove that he is.
Indeed they do. There is a healthy respect and competition. I cannot speak for the meshing of all the personalities, but on whole they do have a respectful relationship. Hoyer is married into St. Louis. His wife and her family live here.
The New New Talent, man. Get with the vibe.
Cost certainty for both sides for 2018 and no loss of free agency for Harper. A win-win.
Theo Epstein called it. He's not the leader of the free world for nothing.
(And thanks for digging that chestnut up. I've tried to paint an accurate picture of where the Cubs view the Cardinals really are in this race.)
I was born in Chicago, raised in Colorado, and when I take quizzes on the words I use and how I pronounce them I often get either Canada, Minnesota, The West, or Britain. Bully!
A strong addition to the canon. Not as good as the first one. Plot meanders. But I liked the description that Gunn gave of the movies recently. GOTG1 is about them becoming a family, and GOTG2 is about them being a family. Throw in some lasers, lots of double entendres, and one killer raccoon and that about covers the story. Thought they brought some welcome nuance to the Ego character, even if it took awhile to explain what was going on there to an 11-year-old ....
I guess when it results in a win.
Thanks for the wonderful afternoon here fielding questions. That's my infield work for the week. You decide if I manned the hot corner, just took turns at the pivot, or just covered a few mistakes over there at first base. Next week's chat will either be Monday or Tuesday. Check your local listings. There's a flight out to Los Angeles to work around, and then the start of a good road trip to consider. Rick Hummel will be at the keyboard for the first game of the Boston series. Lucky you. We'll have gobs of coverage all week with the '67 reunion in play and the decisions ahead for the Cardinals. Watch as they all sort themselves out. They will lack a lot of the drama that so much of the anxiety this week wants. Roster talk always excites. Roster moves always disappoint. Aloha.
