Evidently not. Nostalgia is strong, man.
Sure. That would be one avenue the Cardinals walk, especially once he arrives.
He's expected to come to spring as part of the starter's program. It worked for him this past year. It worked for Kyle McClellan when he was in that swing role, too.
Thanks for dropping in. Simmons was a gifted hitter, for sure.
Why would his velocity dip a bit? It's not unusual for a player returning from Tommy John surgery to have some inconsistency in his first year back, especially as he adjusts to the workload, but some see a jump in velocity because of the conditioning and strengthening that they are able/required to do while on rehab and recovering from the elbow surgery. He should have a role in the second half of next season, and as you'd expect the Cardinals will be cautious and conservative with him but they'll unleash him as closer if they reach the playoffs and he's the best option.
I have never heard the Cardinals call Lane Thomas a cleanup hitter. Not once. Not from one person with the Cardinals. Nope. That hasn't come up. So, I don't know what billboard you saw, but it's wrong.
That's usually how it works, yes. But if we're making scenarios up there's probably one where he hits gangbusters in spring training, leapfrogs over every other candidate, and puts himself as one of the best OBP guys on the team and thus hits high up. That could happen. It has to be in the spectrum of possibilities if his place on the opening day lineup is also in play.
Sure. The Cardinals have at least checked on that possibility.
Nope. Really didn't get any traction on this when I checked around.
They're open to Matt Wieters return and see willing to wait to see if he finds something better, something with more money or more playing time. They've been consistent with their interest in him.
He was the Cardinals best all-around player this past season. There's something to that, and I have a hard time eagerly trying to trade away a player that is the right fit at that position for the Cardinals -- especially when the return isn't better.
I think my chats in August were really bland and probably not my best work despite my best effort to break out of the funk. I'll chalk it up to small sample size, and suggest that the body of work has you coming back here for answers. Good thing the year is 12 months long, and I had a chance to make up for the August blahs.
Sure. And Arozarena. Any of them. Worth a shot, I guess.
As of this past weekend, they were prepared to sit the Rule 5 draft out.
This is an option in play, for sure. It could be how it develops -- but it's not the preferred approach, not at this point.
I wouldn't wish that on the audience. You think my remarks are bland, wait until you hear me say them!
Spider-Man: Home(whatever), Black Panther 2, and Thor: Love and Thunder.
