I think they're already there. Being swept at Cincinnati, without Votto, is hard to do.
Not so fast there, even though DeJong did steal his first base of the season the other day.
It can't be dismissed. The team has played better defense and run the bases better but it shouldn't have taken a managerial change for that to happen.
There is always that dread with someone as talented as Carlos. But their patience is growing thin and now he is becoming more fragile, too.
I would hope that is not the case. Everyone has his own interpretation of what has happened and why and everyone can see the picture is brighter now, so there is all manner of narratives involved. The main issue should be that the Cardinals are playing better and more interesting to watch than they have, for whatever myriad of reasons.
I don't think they'll add anything from outside, except a lefthanded-hitting bench man if one became available.
If I knew Wacha was all right, I would start him. His playoff resume as a starter is impressive. Not so much as a reliever in San Francisco in 2014.
He get some votes but the managers who have been there all years would have the edge. The Atlanta and Philly managers probably have the edge.
It isn't so much about starting pitching any more in the playoffs It's about the bullpen. And they have considerable depth there.
I still think they need more lefthanded presence in the bullpen and a lefthanded hitter off the bench. The waiver wires might offer something but not much at this stage.
I'd like to see it. But Clark is hurt by playing only three years here _ and really 2 1/2 because he was hurt. Hendrick, for whatever, has been undervalued. He was a strong Cardinals player for half a dozen years.
Molina will step out well in front of the plate and the ovation will last at least two minutes.
There's a thought but you have to score a little in today's big-ball game. I would look for that happy medium somehow because the fans here have shown they do love their defense.
I would take Matt Adams back in a minute. He was dealt because the front office didn't feel there would be any playing time for him but he still is a good bench man.
