Bryant might go, however the issue is resolved but if the Cubs have him for only one year before a potential free agency year, his trade value could drop. Yet, they might be more inclined to get rid of him.
I am presuming this will be the final go-round for Reyes, if he is unable to pitch or unable to pitch effectively. The organization can't continue to have this uncertainty.
I don't see why it wouldn't be, if Teddy goes into the Hall wearing a Cardinals cap, or even if he has a generic hat, as did La Russa.
Indeed. The totals are $35 million for two players already here or for one more player who will not play here at at all this season. That's the price of doing baseball. You're not always right.
I don't see anything the Cardinals want from Texas now that Mazara went to the White Sox.
Major League Baseball has figured out it will have to raise salaries somehow for minor leagues, so the fewer minor leagues there are, the fewer players who will be involved.
I suspect he has some trade protection but I do know if it is a blanket coverage.
Molina will play only for the Cardinals unless they decide not to re-up him after the 2020 season. I would extend him for one year through 2021 but make the next season after that an option, depending on how many games he played in 2020-21.
At the beginning of the season, Carpenter, Fowler and Bader all will be starting, as it looks now. A month or two into the season, it could be different and the Cardinals, I'm sure, are preparing themelves for that, too.
Their payroll already is in the top third or so among teams. I would think many fans would be happy with reaching the National League Championship Series and whether the Cardinals succumbed in a in four games or seven doesn't make any difference. They weren't good enough, but they advanced farther than 26 of the other 30 clubs.
I don't think you could look at it that way. They got two good years out of Ozuna, one playoff appearance and one above .500 year. On the other hand, Alcantara is really the only one who has helped the Marlins. Gallen already has been traded and Sierra may never be ready. So, it is not four players for one draft pick.
Carlson, Thomas, Arozarena, in that order, although not necessarily at the start of spring training. Can any of them play center field well enough to unseat Bader? We may find out in time.
Something to consider. Reitzy is still around and does things promotionally for the Cardinals.
His weight training program has changed, so that he might be stronger during the summer months instead of losing weight.
He was in top half dozen this year, so I wouldn't see why he couldn't be a contender again next year/
I would think that Carpenter might have to be more aggressive earlier in the count and not let the disposition of his at-bat rest as often as he does with the home-plate umpire.
I would find it hard to believe that if a team cheated successfully in 2017 that it would take a year off before cheating again in 2019 _ whether that team was the Astros or somebody else.
Thomas, Bader and Fowler.
The good news is that the contract actually goes through 2021. Minor leaguers at some point are going to be compensated more. But that might be a tradeoff for fewer minor league teams.
They don't appear to be a very good defensive club, especially if Moustakas is playing second base. But they could contend because both their bullpen and rotation look solid.
