Wong tries to make a heroic play . . . and makes another error instead, this time on an ill-advised through. That could be that.
I wouldn't say "outpitch", even if that is the end result. Cardinals were not impressive at the plate today.
OK, runners on second and third. The Cardinals have to score here, right?
Ryan Braun could have played that better in right field. But Peralta will take the two-run double.
The Blackhawks have won championships. Of course they are the team to be beat in the West.
Matheny loves to bunt the runner to third with nobody out. That makes one manager who loves that.
Jay flies out, Molina grounds out. So the Brewers walk Wong and force Matheny's hand.
Grichuk's explosive bat moves the ball about 20 feet. Stranded runners again!
Grichuk just stranded two more himself, keeping Jay in place.
I'd take Grichuk over Reynolds as well. Mark has never been much of a pinch-hitter, which raises questions about his role here.
Grichuk has never hit .260 or higher at a level higher than Class A ball. He can destroy a mistake pitch, but he really struggles to make regular hard contact.
Bochy has been a better manager since Matheny took the helm in St. Louis, but can you name anybody else in the NL who has done better.
He is another middle relief option.
