Yes, Blais was on an emergency call-up. As for the other guys at San Antonio, other than Butler they need to keep playing. It does Kyrou no good to come up here and sit. Eventually some guys will come up to get a feel for the NHL life and what the playoffs look like.
The Cardinals gave Wieters a minimal offer. No overpaying there -- he had zero offers to that point.
Sounds you like you don't like restrictor plates.
There is a long list of guys, starting with Gant. He did a nice job filling in last year. A healthy Alex Reyes would upgrade the rotation. Austin Gomber could fill in. I like Dakota Hudson more as a starter than a reliever.
The Cubs could afford to spend more, yes. But Bryant and Baez will cost a fortune to lock in and I'm guessing that team will have to buy some more pitching too in time.
Arm injuries are an occupational hazard, which is why last week's quesiton about what the Cardinals could possibly do with all of this pitching was so silly.
Kostin is playing as a 19-year-old in the AHL. There are no many of those. Ideally he would have played another year or two in Europe before coming over, but he chose this path. As we saw at the World Juniors, he is advanced compared to most 19-year-olds.
I don't believe the Cardinals adjusted their model. They looked at both free agency and trades this winter. They traded for Goldschmidt and spent on Miller in free agency. They had two glaring needs and filled them both. Had they had more needs, they probably would have made another mid-level buy in free agency. But this team has never used free agency as a team-building strategy. Free agency is for filling gaps.[
I would expect some loss of power. And that could weigh in his decision to re-up and also what the Cardinals are willing to offer.
He can also pitch, so why not?
Those teams have been ordinary for a while. Both got better at the trade deadline, but then the Blues will improve when Perron and Schenn return. So, sure, the Blues measure up to those teams better than those teams want to admit.
Trust me, Carlos has fun.
That's it for today. See you next time!
