Hello again everybody. Hope you all had a great Christmas. Lots going on. And it looks like there will be a hockey game toinight. So lets get to it.
I think he does have a point, to a degree. I've always appreciaited Tarasenko from a writer's standpoint because he almost always speaks his minid. Obviously the big problem with playing in China is the reported 3 to 5-week quarantine time iif you test positive there. And from what I've heard many players weren't too thrilled about the prospect of getting stuck in China for a month while the NHL season was starting back up in North America.
With Bortuzzo on the COVID list, your only other option is Jake Walman. And it's not like he plays a heavy game. I think the Blues believe Perunovich can add more to the power play with his vision and passing ability than Faulk or Parayko.. And I think that was a reason why they brought him up in the first place.
I'm not quite getting why you're less likely to get injured playing wing than center. His first injury was a pretty severe rib injury; don't know what this one is other than upper-body and something different from the first. He looks pretty good this week at practice. It's possiible he could return for the Winter Classic.
Not sure why Berube hasn't been extended. His style of play sure clicked with the callups though. It'll be interesting to see how it works with the more skilled guys back in Thomas,, Kyrou and Perron.
Could be. He certainly seems happy this season. And I've had people at several levels on the organizational chart tell me so. Thomas was effective playing with Tarasenko earlier in the season. But when Barbashev returns I sure would be tempted to put Barbashev back in centering the Russian Line and move Thomas elsewher, e in the liineup, simply because the Russian Line was so effective with Barbashev in there. But I sense that Tarasenko does not have a problem playing with Thomas. He knows he's going to get passes - and opportunities.
He got off to such a great start. At that time I would've said bring him back. I think it's a lititle murkier now that he's missed some tmie with injury. At his age you always do wonder when will the dropoff occur? Maybe if you're the Blues you let a little more of the season play out to get a better read. You'd hate to just walk away from such a high-end offensive player. He was rocketing some shots the other day at Centene.
If you asked me right now, I'd say Mikkola does indeed look like a top 4 defenseman. The pairing with Parayko does look very good right now, but it's only been 10 games. So I don't think I'd be ready to declare that Miikkola is the answer right now. I can remember after Bouwmeester's cardiac episode, Scandella was thought to be the answer by many after just 11 games with Parayko in the 2019-20 season. So I think it's still to be determined on whether the Blues need another top 4 D-man.
I'm not aware of any nagging injury. He hasn't missed any practice time that I can recall other than one maintainance day a little while back. Sometimes he gets beaten to the outside by speedy skaters. Occasionally he makes a bad decision with an exit pass in his own zone. Before coming to the Blues, I don't think he was considered a top pairing defenseman. His play has seemed to stabilize lately.
Interesting thought. I think even with his injuries this year and lower production that Schenn could be a valuable piece for someone. So I guess I wouldn't rule out the possibility.
Yes, I would think that's a very distinct possibility.
I'm not sure if I've ever talked to Madden. I can't recall any conversations off the top of my head. I do recall being asked politely but firmly by a member of Madden's entourage if II could get off the tiny press box elevator at Candlestick Park before a Rams-49ers game. Madden was on the elevator and apparently he was very claustrophobic. So I got off and took the next one.
Hope you had a good Christmas. Yes, I'm heading up to Miinny on Thursday. I'm told it's an enclosed press box. (Thank goodness.) And I don't know how the fans can sit outside in that kind of weather for 2 1/2 or 3 hours.
First off, the way this season has gone, I'm not sure if the Blues will ever get back to fully healthy in terms of injury and COVID. After all, it hasn't happened yet this season. But if they get healthier, yeah, I wouldn't rule anything out for Armstrong.
Isn't gambling already legalized in all major sports? As for NHL safeguards, not sure what they have in place.
He does a daily "Ten Hochman" video, which often deals with hockey. I'm not sure how it's decided in terms of who does what podcasts, chats, videos, etc. That's above my paygrade. Should we have BenHoch as a guest at the NetFront?
I got a sweater, socks, and some of those multi-colored "geek" pens. Pretty dang exciting, eh? My wife, uh Santa, got us a new couch and recliner.
Delta is ready when I am.
He's currently in the COVID protocol. But in 31 games, it looks like he's played pretty well: 5 goals, 17 assists, plus-7, 25:43 ice time.
