He certainly didn't embarrass himself when he was up for a few games earlier this season - that's for sure. Right now, he's the 7th D-man, but I'm looking forward to seeing him get some playing time at some point.
I believe so. Remember, the original prognosis was for Perunovich to be out until early April. So he's ahead of schedule - Berube said as much yesterday (Tuesday). But it's not like we should expect him back any time soon. He's probably still weeks away.
To a man, the players all talk about how this is a close team. But I remember Armstrong saying (when he met with us during the 8-game losing streak) that it doesn't necessarily look like a team that's close on the ice. I don't know about "past few years" but something does seem off about this year's team. And I don't know what that is.
Good point. But you're not far behind any of those teams you mention. And yeah, if the team keeps playing at this pace, I'm sure Armstrong will try to make some moves at the trade deadline.
Just a maintenance day, according to Berube. So it doesn't sound like its anything serious.
From what we've seen so far, I'd say yes.
You've got Jim today. But anyway. I don't think speed is the issue. Checking is like playing defense in basketball. It has a lot more to do with effort and commitment than anything else.
I don't know what to tell you on this. I'll try to keep an eye on this in the future.
One other thing I'd like to add here. If not for COVID depressing the salary cap increases each year (because of the lost revenue) the Blues would probably have about $8 million to $10 million extra cap money to play with and wouldn't be in as severe of a cap hole. You can't plan for a once in a century type epidemic. If not for that, maybe O'Reilly or Barbashev or Mikkola already would be re-signed. Maybe Perron would still be a Blue.
Do we know that Detroit is interested in O'Reilly.
I can't say that I disagree with any of your three points. Although Faulk has been a pretty good pickup.
Yes, that 2017-18 season was my first year on the beat. I remember it well. Your scenario very could play out, deal Tarasenko and hold onto O'Reilly. But with the cap only going up $1 million, it may be impossible to hold onto O'Reilly after this season.
I know his name has been out there in general. But I'm not aware of anything linking him to the Blues.
