Well, arrived at the ballpark to find Jeff Albert throwing BP to Paul Goldschmidt over and over and over and over and over again, and Goldschmidt going through his swing, bouncing through his base as if looking for that balance, and then going right back to hitting Albert's pitches. It went on for awhile.
And then at the end, Goldschmidt ran out to the outfield to help coaches pick up the baseballs.
Marlins are in town. Cardinals need a buoy.
They have Adam Wainwright on the mound.
You, lucky readers, have Rick Hummel at the keyboard for the game story and all of the coverage. A nice break for your eyes from all the ink I spilled at Wrigley Field. Ben Frederickson is also crushing keys here at Busch Stadium for the Post-Dispatch. Check for their coverage at StlToday.com and in the pages of the Post-Dispatch.
Next week, I'll be making my way back from Atlanta -- hopefully scribbling away on an off-day story -- and Hall of Famer Hummel will have the reins for the chat as he heads to Detroit for an interleague series and, if he takes my advice, some Vernor's ginger ale and deep-dish pizza.
Thanks for an excellent conversation today, and for teeing up the topics I hoped to cover.
