It is hard for me to understand how the Cardinals would give up there whole future giving up players like Carlson, Walker and Winn for Soto, who you are going to have for 2 1/2 years. If there is one player that is untouchable it is Walker. Watched him play this weekend in person, and this kid is the real deal.

I am not exactly buying Washington's GM Rizzo comments that Patrick Corbin will not be dealt along with Soto especially with the Nationals soon up for sale, are you? Regardless do you think the Cardinals chances of landing JS jump up if PC is included or not and if so in percentage about how much?

Thank you for the chat today. I am sure that every other question will be about trading for Soto or trading for someone else. So count me in the group. I realize that many fans want a trade of some kind for Soto but you have been around for along time, as have I. A trade for Soto does not make sense to me. Why give up several very good players and several very good prospects? One great player does not make the team great. Over the years the teams that have been World Series winners had very good pitching and a couple of overachievers or players with career years. Do you agree that the Cardinals need pitching and a career year from someone not named Goldy or Nolan A. ?

I hope that this comment gets said several times during your chat.... the Cardinals need PITCHING!!!!
Not another outfielder, if the FO trades young prospects for pitching help who do you thing can help ?
Which prospects should not be traded? Do we just need a "rental" or do you think we should longer term? I know several questions, but I trust your opinion and thank you very much for your time. -
The names Frankie Montaz of Oakland, Madison Bumgarner of Arizona, Jake Odorizzi of Houston have been prominent but I liked what I saw a week ago in Tyler Mahle of Cincinnati. No untouchables among the prospects. Rental or long-term control are not big issues for me although control for at least another year would be important.

Venting!! It drives me absolutely crazy when I hear announcers (ours included) refer to multiple runs batted in as (example: 29 RBI vs 29 RBI's). Is it grammatically correct? Of course. However, it it baseball speak to say 29 RBI'S. What next? No more: paint the corner, frozen rope, can of corn, uncle charlie, bean ball, cought napping, on his horse, in a pickle, etc. And, by the way, if someone goes 10 for 30 he is not batting 300 he is batting 3 tenths. STOP SAYING RBI, GET BACK TO SPEAKING BASEBALL. Whew, I feel better now.

While I would like to have Soto, I think that 2 1/2 years is all you'd get. Bora$$ is going to go for the richest contract in history. Don't think it's worth it to give up 4 years of Carlson, 5 years of Gorman, and all controllable years of Walker, Wynn, and maybe some others. Sure I want to win but not at the cost of a lot of good young ballplayers. Soto's best year is 34 hrs. Gorman and Carlson can match or over achieve that. Walker's addition will probably add more. Forget Soto and get pitching. I just can't see giving away a long future for a short addition that won't sign here anyway when the time comes.

Hey Mr. Hall of Fame Baseball Guy!
Trade deadline questions on bizzare FO moves to be answered - finally?
The strange treatment of Jake Woodford. Will this banished pitcher be packaged in a deal to go somewhere where his success in MLB will be rewarded?
Why allow Aaron Brooks to finally find himself in the Memphis rotation (Three straight great outings before the All-Star Break.), and then promptly remove him from the rotation before any other club notices? -
