Jordan Walker seems like the real deal and has a high ceiling. I like Masyn Winn as well but I would work very hard to keep Walker and use Winn as the prospect center piece. How close do you see these two as trade chips? Does Winn give the Nationals the same excitement as Walker?

Rick,
We have all seen the prospects in proposed trades - Gorman, Walker, Winn, Hense, Burleson, etc and they are well documented but have yet to see Moises Gomez being mentioned in any of these type of conversations.
He came from the Rays and supposedly has found a way to cut down on the strikeouts and tap into his power.
How do the Cardinals and more importantly see his value moving forward - and can he be a trade chip? -

Will all due respect to the talent that Gorman and Carlson have, Juan Soto changes the direction of the entire franchise. He’s a potential bronze statue out front if they can get and sign him.
And he’s 23. You don’t get this chance more than once. You have to trade for him. -

I understand why you would say that you would want one or two pitchers for this team given the season-long problems, but I wouldn't give up any of the Cardinals' top prospects for what's on the market. None of them are difference makers. The Cardinals should only spend their top assets for top talent or keep them and let them develop.

More than anything else I hope DeWitt’s biggest lesson from the next 27 hrs is when you have a chance to sign a hometown generational talent to a 3-year deal, even if it is uncomfortably expensive, and it costs ZERO prospects don’t be pound foolish. Scherzer solves so many concerns right now.

I was interested in how you read how DeWitt and the Cardinals management really think of Molina's "rehab summer vacation" from the team? Taking into consideration the Cardinals have gone out fo their way to work with him in making sure he remains a Cardinal for his career don't you think they are resentful how he clearly could've easily done his rehab in St. Louis, been with the team , mentored young catchers/and other young players who would have certainly benefited from his knowledge.

I keep seeing that the Cardinals are possibly going to get Soto at the cost of Carlson, Walker, Wynn and a couple of other prospects. I for one hope this is not the case. I know Soto is a hitting machine, both for average and power. But he pulls a plow on the base paths and his defense is suspect. If this trade happens, with Carlson gone, that means Edman moves to center, Soto right field, DeJong short stop and Gorman second. Edman has been elite defense up the middle, but only good in Center.
If the Cardinals are bound and determined to blow up the farm for a win now attitude, why not blow it up for what we really need. A top end starter, or two? I don't think we can afford both Montas and Soto. Thoughts? -

After 2019, the Cards traded Randy Arozarena. The reasons given for not playing him were that he was not good defensively. This despite the Cards were playing Jose Martinez in the OF who was terrible defensively. MO has said they don't want to repeat the same mistake by not giving a potentially promising player the right opportunity. This year Burleson has been killing it in AAA. He has not been given a chance. The reasons were roster management he is not good defensively. Yet, they played Yepez in the OF until he was hurt and he was terrible defensively. If Burleson is traded, how is his situation and handling different than the Arozarena situation? Is MO making the same mistake, not giving him a chance, he indicated he wanted to avoid in the future?

Has anyone mentioned an issue with the training staff? It seems that the last couple of years the cards always have key guys hurt. This year it seems almost every starter (pitching and lineup) with the exception of a few has been hurt. Players come off IL and then go right back on. I know we want to add talent but the inconsistency is hurting us as much as anything. Is there something are training staff is or isn't doing that could be causing this? Seems like this is worth looking into. Thanks for the chats!
