Rick, the Cubs win a title after a century drought, then follow with several competitive seasons. On a dime, the Ricketts family dismantles the team and sends it back into a familiar tank and rebuild mode. And Cub fans turn into lovable losers again. Are you surprised Cub fans put up with this?

Do you expect the "Getting Matz and Flaherty back and calling up Thompson and Liberatore was basically like making a deadline acquisition" talk from the front office? Do you expect them to get an arm 1) in the rotation or the pen? and 2) impact with year(s) of control or just a rental veteran?

All of the 20/20 hindsight about players traded away gets really obnoxious. Just because they find success elsewhere doesn't mean they would have found success here. Playing time, coaching approach, etc., are all different on different clubs. And, remember too, that we often get the benefit of unlocking guys when we trade for them too. Several years ago, I remember Adam Wainwright saying he would never have become "Waino" if he'd stayed with the Braves. It was the Cardinals who helped him unlock his potential.
(And we can certainly stop with the Randy Arozarena obsession. He had a one year good playoff run but has otherwise been an "average" or slightly worse player. Reminds me of a guy named David Freese who caught lightning in a bottle for 3 great weeks in October 2011 but was an otherwise unremarkable player.) -

All the hype around the Top 100 prospect rookies making their teams out of Spring Training, it's Brendan Donovan leading the NL hitters in WAR, only behind Mac Gore in SDP. If it stays this way and Donovan takes 2nd in the ROY voting, don't the Cardinals get a draft pick? Doesn't Donovan get some CA$$$$$H?

Unfortunately, Father time has caught up with Yadi and he has become a liability to the team. There, I said it. He is no longer an elite defender as he spends all game catching on one knee which limits his ability to block pitches and throw. His AB’s are painful to watch. Maybe a stint on the Injured List because of his sore knees would give him time to lose the extra weight he is carrying which must be a contributing factor to his diminished play. What do you think?

I’m curious to hear your opinion about the Cardinals use of Tommy Edman at shortstop versus second base. Last night it was Sosa at SS and Tommy at 2nd.
Is this because Sosa is a superior SS?
Because Tommy has a gold glove at 2nd?
Or because Tommy gets a bit of a breather when he is at 2nd?
It seems that the team would be better off using Tommy at short full-time (allowing him to become as comfortable as possible) and then rotating other players in at 2nd.
Thanks for putting up with us chatters, and your thoughts are always appreciated ! -
