To fill in if somebody gets hurt.
Schwartz is having the worst possible walk year in his contract. His career arc is starting to look like what we saw from Alexander Steen. And while Steen remained a valued teammate until his back gave out, his pay level outstripped his team role at the end. Given all the injuries Schwartz has had, Armstrong needs to give this situation some thought as he ponders some roster retooling. For the right money Schwartz would still make sense because of his strong defensive play, but Jaden might differ on what "right money" looks like.
Manny Machado and Brian Anderson were in that hunt last year, but I haven't seen enough of them to make a call on that.
He is progressing well in his recovery, but there is still a long way to go. But so far so good.
I have not paid attention to that -- altough I noticed that my favorite mobile stand near the press box entrance this season was not there. So expect the concessions to be ramped up as there attendance grows.
To each his own, but expect St. Louis to applaud him at every chance. This is what they do.
OK, but when Molina finally packs it in the Cardinals will need two catchers. And right now Knizner has limited trade value.
Combined with the five guys coming in as freshman and two guys returning, this could be an interesting two in two seasons if everybody stays the course. Cuonzo Martin wanted players who could get to the rim and finish at the rim. He got one of those a good mid-range shooter and a point guard who can do it all, including shoot threes. But I wonder about their ability to defend the rim.
He said he is retired. Not sure he is changing his mind.
OK, that's it for this time. Catch you next week!
