Amen, and well said. Those numbers mean something. Getting close is not getting there. There's a heft to it. A reliability. And pretty poetic that Arenado picks up the baton that has been left on the ground since his mentor and friend Matt Holliday picked it up. Matt Holliday was already perhaps the best long-term Cardinals contract in recent history, and his relationship and admiration for the Cardinals directly influenced Arenado's wanting to be here. Pretty remarkable. One more thing: If there is a way to bet on Nolan Arenado's opt-out , everyone here should get a cash-out refinance and put all of the money on no. Thank me later.
Some of this is still up in the air, right? Sosa is making his case and has even bigger games ahead to keep doing that -- or not. Edman has rebounded but how does he finish? And what do the Cardinals really think about how close Nolan Gorman is to being an infielder in The Show? For what it's worth, Rick was pointing to both Edman and Sosa as players people were underestimating long before people were clamoring about them. I don't overlook that, and no one should. Commish knows ball. My thing is, don't determine you are going to sit out the offseason of shortstops before the chance to shop for them even arrives.
I would avoid reading too much into national media speculation about a lawsuit most just decided to start paying attention to within the past two weeks. The same forces that kept some from covering it will be influencing the tone and spin of the coverage now that it can't be avoided.
A wise chat leader once called for patience on the topic of Goldschmidt's rotten 2021. Can't remember his name . . . Does that make up for me being cool on O'Neill? Even a little?
Come at the king, you best not miss. Very important message from The Wire.
He said after the win (No. 200) that Harrison Bader was more excited than he was. Also referenced getting his (large) rear in and out of the laundry cart for the post-game celebration that included teammates pouring beer on him. Said he forgot how cold it was and pointed out he doesn't have any hair to cut through the chill. He's likable. More than I expected. So, don't feel bad.
He got sick. Non-COVID. Bad timing. Could impact things.
