There used to be myriad sports talk radio stations in the market and you could get on the air by getting your own sponsors and buying the time. But right now I believe the drive time at the two surviving sports stations are handled by talent making enough to live on. But getting and keeping ad support is VERY IMPORTANT.

National scribes don't give Blues much love and really seem to ignore Berube. The Chief is a master. He had to deal with the Tarasanko situation, lots of injuries, goalie juggling, and the toughest division in the NHL and wound up with 43 regulation wins. He will out coach Bednar.

Here's the thing about Boston and the Cardinals, they'll both end up in the same place in October: at home. So, yes, the summer will be more enjoyable in St. Louis (probably) but another early playoff bow-out is not some great prize... despite how they are celebrated by the DeWitt and Mo.

Am I correct that one of the issues we heard about a couple years ago vis-a-vis PDJ in Jeff Albert's offense, was that Albert provides a ton of info--maybe too much--and DeJong just ends up thinking too much when he's in the batter's box (you referenced this earlier, talking about "watching too much video" and unable to react to the ball in real time)? Is it possible that he's having the impact across the lineup, hence not a single hitter having years of sustained improvement since he came to the team?
Last year in some chats the writers and fans fantasized about keeping Albert around as a hitting director but getting a new hitting coach to work directly with the players, one who could better communicate with hitters and help them simplify things once the games begin. Is this anything more than a dream, maybe something the FO has ever suggested as a possibility? -

To counter Boomer, I'd actually like to express my gratitude for you writing so much about the Wild. One thing I've long appreciated about sports coverage in St. Louis (at the P-D, and on the TV and radio), is how often we get to hear in-depth info about the opponents our teams are facing. It's nice to not just have "homers" telling us how great our team is, but really increasing our sports knowledge on a regular basis. I've heard opposing announcers struggle to pronounce our own players' names, let alone know anything useful about them, and it's great to not have to suffer through that most of the time as a St. Louis sports fan.

The Wild had an interesting team this season. And they are not going away, although they may take a small step back while getting more kids in the lineup to make the salary cap work. And I wonder if coach Dean Evason is in any peril, given some of the coaches available for next season.

I just checked the stats of most of the Shortstops Mo should of signed and I'm not impressed. Semien, Story, Correa are all sub 700 OPS and Seager is doing okay but not worth what he's getting paid. What would the reaction be about Mo if he would of spent the money on one of these players?

Do you see the Cards season playing out having an average record but still making the playoffs but not advancing? Was it a smart business move not getting a top end SP, DH, and SS but instead filling the seats w Pujols to ride off in the sunset w Molina? Do you think they wasting the best chance as the clock runs on Goldschmidt and Areanado careers?

With having to use Perunovich to replace Krug on the PP but still protect him by playing 7 D actually make this defensive unit more formidable moving forward? Doesn't this allow the staff to use the 3 really solid veterans play major minutes and still be able to mix and match Borts, Mikkola, Rosen and Perunovich without exposing them too much on the back line?

Pujols started out promising but has died. He cannot hit RH pitching. As fans, we got a thrill with his signing but now the reality is setting in. Can a player retire before the end of a season? Would Pujols consider that at some point instead of embarrassing himself?

With so much focus on metrics when will the Cards terrible offensive results finally make management admit Albert is not right for this organization and try someone new? How long will last season's magical late season run buy him? If the teams treads continue will he make it through this year?

Given Husso's fade against the Wild, I don't Berube being in a big hurry to go back to him. If there needs to be a change, I would see it later in the series. Let's see if Binnington can handle Colorado's rush attack. Will he have nightmarish flashbacks to the 2021 series?
