If the Cardinals just use Nolan Gorman against righties, he can get plenty of work at DH. There is plenty of skepticism about his fielding ability at second base, so we'll have to see if he can be more than a spot starter over there. Edmundo Sosa can hit lefties, so there would be no point in putting Gorman in unfavorable matchups once this team gets healthy.

Commissioner Gordon, I have two questions:
Is Binnington playing like he did in 2019 or are the Blues just blocking shots and collapsing in the middle to prevent shots? Many of the Aves' shots last night just didn't get thru to Binner
The Blues employed a little jujitsu on the Aves to catch them overextended in our zone and then with a quick pass get 2 on 1s on their D for scoring chances. Can this continue, or will the Aves stop their rushes to prevent getting caught? -
The Avalanche need to manage the puck better, as coaches like to say, because the Blues are dangerous with all four lines on the counterattack. Colorado does not want to turn the puck over high in the offensive zone or in the neutral zone.As for Binnington, he has made some of human pretzel saves reminiscent of his '19 run. He still gets scrambling around the crease and he still can lose his stick at inopportune times, but right now he is playing with the confidence needed to make that aggression work.

If the bidding gets too high on Ville Husso, that could happen. The Blues can't keep everybody and David Perron is making a great case to get paid again. I believe the Blues would love to have both guys and kick the decision can down the road, but the salary cap will make that difficult.

Edmundo Sosa miscalculated the distance between the bases and suffered a minor ankle injury on a slide. Also, Oliver Marmol likes getting another lefty bat in the lineup against righthanders. That's why he gave Brendan Donovan starts at shortstops. So perhaps his confidence in Plan B does not match mine . . .

If the Blues can’t trust Scott Perunovich enough to take a regular shift because he’s too big of a defensive liability, how can he have a future here? Dressing him as a 7th defenseman who serves as a power play specialist and plays only 10 minutes a night isn’t sustainable.
-
Remember that Scott Perunovich came back from wrist surgery and walked right into the playoffs without much preparation. That is not ideal. Back in November he had five straight games with 18+ minutes of ice time. He was a regular through much of that much and December.

Can I express my huge displeasure at the Cardinals putting today’s game on Apple TV? As a loyal Cardinal fan I am paying a larger price each year to subscribe to Bally’s sports via DirecTV and attend 7-8 games per year. Total annual cost approximately $3,000 per year. To lose some games because the Cardinals want to experiment to find more fans while kicking the loyal ones in the ____ like me is stupid. If they keep doing it, my loyalty may go down…

It seems experience counts in the NHL playoffs. The Lightning won again last night with 3 seconds to play in the third to go up 2-zip on the Panthers and the Blues show the confidence of a team who has been there done that to win another road game. In your opinion how do teams that haven't been to the mountaintop break thru? Case in point the Panthers, Leafs, maybe (we hope) the Aves.
The Blues did it in 2019 thru great play, sound coaching and a lot of puck luck. I personally think its confident coaching and a hot goalie. Your thoughts? -
To win a Stanley Cup, a team has to go into the playoffs with its act together and then it must find ways to keep getting better and better and better. That comes organically -- with the players rising up collectively -- as it did for the Blues in 2019. Or it doesn't. Having veterans with Cup experience helps the transformation for sure, but year after year the Blues employed some of hockey's all-time greats, leaders with remarkable playoff track records . . . and the team could not get over the hump until 2019.

Nolan Gorman will get a look at second base. This is where he has been playing in the minors. But you are right, there is a offense/defense balance to consider. Right now Oliver Marmol is leaning toward offense with his configuration. Personally, I would use Edmundo Sosa most of the time at shortstop, leave Tommy Edman at second base for most games and make Gorman the DH against righties. Albert Pujols could DH against lefties, pinch hit and make the occasional start at first base.

Given is playoff success and desire to finish his career here, I'm guessing the Blues try to re-sign him to a contract that fits their pay structure. But he wants to chase the last dollar as Alex Pietrangelo did, there could be more cash out there from another team.
-
To those who are upset about a few Friday night Cardinal games being moved to Apple TV - I'd highly recommend just getting an Apple TV. They have some great programming (Ted Lasso for one). For the cost of going to one game - Appe TV is more than worth it for me.

I would think no matter what happens in the playoffs Tarasenko will be traded this summer or before Christmas. The guy's value won't be higher given his productive season and he has produced in round one this year and previous playoffs. Do you agree Vladi will have a new zip code sometime in 2022-23?
-
No, the Blues could bring him back as a rental player. Teams pay a huge trade price at the trade deadline to rent offense for the stretch run, so keeping No. 91 would give the team a whole season of production. Then if he walks, the team can use his cap space to add or keep other players. In the salary cap world, teams never "lose a player for nothing" via free agency. The Blues see their competitive window as wide open, so any trade that sends Tarasenko away would have to help the Blues in 2022-23 and beyond.
-
According to MLB's website games on Apple TV+ are free. www.mlb.com If you don't a device to watch the game on your TV you can watch it on your computer just fine. I view it similar to watching games on ESPN with worse production value.

Yeah, the 2019 playoffs saw the top seeds take groin shots left and right. Facing this Colorado team in the second round is tougher than facing that Dallas team -- and the Blues came an inch away from losing that series to the Stars. So, yes, this potential path is harder?

Jeff it’s my understanding a 40 man roster spot must be opened up prior to Saturdays game. Will this not bode well for Corey Dickerson or is PDJ likely to be traded or DFA’d?
Totally unrelated but I will be at PNC Park on Sunday and finally getting around to check out that beautiful stadium. Any must sees or must do’s you can recommend to a first time visitor to the Steel City? Thanks and I look forward to your comments. -

I think Mo is down to one year on his contract and if he doesn’t show some good results this year he’ll get the shildt treatment
That’s why he’s messing with the service time of Gorman and Libby
Thanks for your Chat
Always look forward to it although I think Ben Fred is more realistic and has Lighter Rose color glasses and drinks less Moe koolaid
