I meant to say this a couple of weeks ago, but I hadn't made it to the chat on time. Really sorry about the passing of Bob Lanier, one of the most underrated big men in NBA history and overall good guy. Any Bob Lanier stories from your Detroit days? Also - how could a team with him AND Dave Bing be so mediocre in the early 70's??
-
Just a comment: I was sorry to see Bob Lanier passed away. I know you were a fan of his. I've read a lot of good things about him, especially how he went to St. Bonaventure because it was close to his home when he could have gone anywhere. His left-handed jumper was so good. I wonder how many points he would have scored if the three-pointer existed in his era.
-
Big highlight of my life: Meeting Bob Lanier in person. My dad popped for a charity dinner meet-and-greet and Lanier could not have been nicer in person. He got a rough ride in Motown because his era of Pistons was not great. Not his fault! Also, he was a different type of center with his faceup game during an era of low-post monsters.

The Cardinals lost by one run last night to the Brewers. We are still in the race and get to play all the patsies the Brewers have been feasting on. The sky is not falling. An experienced starter would help a lot, though. That would leave Libertore and Woodford to combine for 5th starter for a month or more until we get Flaherty back. How long is Matz out? This may be a short tern thing.

Gordo, in 2009 the Cards added DeRosa and he got hurt. Then they added Holliday at the deadline. That was a monster in-season for Mo. Not asking for that (although we might need it) but can't they go get the DeRosa this year - pitcher or hitter version? They don't even do that most years.

Jeff, I did not see any of the really bad stuff said about Nazem Kadri as I do not seek out that crap. No one should be denigrating him because of his background. But disliking the guy for his actions seems pretty reasonable to me. In your opinion, is Kadri a dirty player? He sure seems so to me just based on his run-ins with the Blues the last two playoff seasons. His hit on Faulk was inexcusable and what happened with Binnington looked deliberate to me. Disliking someone because they are an (expletive) is not unreasonable, in my estimation. Thanks for letting me vent.
-
Kadri has an extensive history of crossing the line with dirty hits. He has tried to clean that up in the wake of the Faulk because his suspension cost his team dearly. And he was headed to free agency. Nobody wants to invest in a guy who could get banished from the postseason. But like you say, there is no placed for violent threats and racist insults in sports.

I view the Cards success like I would view my kids' grades. If my kids get a "B", fine, but if I were to find out that they could have gotten an "A" by doing just a little extra credit than I would be upset. Same goes for the Cards, except fans just say "thanks for the "B"" every October. Do more and get the "A" every 3-4 years.

If Jordan Walker and Masyn Winn arrive as Goldy and Arenado's windows are closing than the team receives zero benefit on anyone's prime. The timelines of this next wave of prospects and the in-their-prime-talent don't align. If Gorman was in Year 2 and Liberatore was in Year 2 and Yepez was in Year 2, this team would be fine. But none of those 3 are going to carry this team on their backs, nor make up for Flaherty being hurt or O'Neil's down season, not for 162.

Gordzonga Mayday!!! Chief is healthy scratching Perunovich again! Our zoP is going to be awful again! What is wrong with Chiefs brain? All year long the number 1 PP is used to a lefty point man now is not the time to experiment. He could take a forward out if he thinks Scandella is so great!! MAYDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

If you were going to draft players from the Avs and Blues for this year and the next one or two do you go three, four or five deep before your first Blue? McKinnon would probably be first overall, who would be the first Blue ROR? Would the middle of your draft be full of blues?
