The goal is to keep guys off first base.
Finishing with a winning record would be a good step to 2022, since it would create further growth for many young guys. But there will be a lot of work to do for next season.
Cardinals just trying to get through the season in one piece.
Yes. Does this team that fans already miss Lane Thomas?
I am surprised they went all in and dumped Baez too. Wow.
I believe he is just trying to get this team through the season in one piece. That has been the goal for some time.
Even though he has been especially bad the last two seasons, yes, fans can't wait to whine about this. But Thomas was about to get passed by three other outfield prospects.
That's a rental trade. The Cardinals were never looking to make a rental trade for hitter who plays a position the team already has filled.
I believe the Lester deal came after Randy Flores declined an offer to come back. (Just kidding, Randy).
The Cardinals already tried that.
Flaherty, Mikolas, Wainwright and Kim could be a solid rotation for the last two months if they stay healthy. The fifth spot? I guess that's up for grabs. LeBlanc hasn't been terrible.
That is the realistic assessment.
Has it been finalized? I must have missed that.
I actually like the guy, but it appears Nick Plummer and Alec Burlson have more pop in their bat. The Cardinals will need one of those three to break through.
If Turner arrived with a long-term contract, then make that trade. If not, wait it out and bid on him in free agency. Or bid on Trevor Story in free agency. Don't repeat the Ozuna error.
