Mark Smith is the only new addition who has to sit out this coming season. Watson, Pickett, Pinson and Ramey (if he signs) will be eligible. The only player who sat out this past year who can play this year is Ronnie Suggs. He's a walk-on, so I'm not sure he'll have a regular role on the floor next season.
Lock doesn't believe the old offense would have prevented him from getting drafted, but the learning curve would have been steeper because he wasn't exposed to a lot of concepts and principles that are common for NFL quarterbacks. His talent would have put him on an NFL team if he entered the 2018 draft. But once there he'd have a lot to learn. Being a spread QB doesn't carry the stigma that it did 10 years ago, but it still makes for a major adjustment.
If they make a run here the next couple weeks and securely get into the SEC tournament - which is in Columbia - then I think you have to reward her with the job. Remember, this team was 29-28 last year under Earleywine and 7-16 in the SEC. Right now they're 24-21 and 6-11. They're one win away from matching last year's SEC total. And she took over the job in the most unusual, inconvenient circumstances.
He says he's fully healed now. He said last week he's still recovering mentally, still learning to trust his shoulder when he delivers contact. But if you ask Cam Hilton he'd say Crockett is all the way back.
Slower tempo=fewer possessions. There were times last year Heupel didn't let off the gas and had Lock throwing touchdowns in blowout games. I'm not sure we'll see as much of that this year.
I'm not sure how that would work. Again, this hasn't been decided. I've been told in recent months it's an option because of the injury's severity and Martin seemed open to the possibility when asked Thursday.
Yes, they've made a push for that in the past. The Commission has visited other bowls in similar markets to study the sites and logistics. I'm not sure where those ambitions are now, but the folks at the commission have definitely looked into the possibility. If NYC can pull of an outdoor bowl game at Yankee Stadium then something could work at Busch, but I would think the Dome would be more appealing because of weather concerns for late December.
OK, folks. Thanks for joining the chat this week. We'll do this again next week.
