Sprint Center stuck us up in the 7th floor hockey press box, so I couldn't tell you based on Sunday's game. Anderson picked his spots when he'd get loud, but he certainly yelled at officials and players a lot.
If he's 6-6 he's not getting fired, even if the class is ranked in the 70s. You don't fire coaches based on recruiting class rankings. If you did, Bill Snyder would have been out of a job in the 1990s.
Could be. I think it's also just the way the program is trending. And with the December signing date, recruits have to be more decisive this year - because their best offers might not be offers any more after December.
It's a good thing. He doesn't lose and he hates losing. It's a refreshing attitude for this program. The last two years there were plenty of nights where players put on a sad face after a loss then laughed it up with friends and girls outside the locker room. Porter was pissed his team lost - an exhibition game. That's a great sign.
It all depends on how the season closes out. At 5-7, I think there's a chance he's back. At 6-6, absolutely. It means they're going to a bowl. At 4-8, Sterk has a big decision to make. Again, losing recruits is a symptom of what's happening on the field - not a factor in Sterk's decision.
He has to learn how to play under control, but the zone defense will help that.
I couldn't take away a single negative from the day.
If the defender makes contact with his helmet, it's going to draw a flag. Period. I hear this every week when it's a Missouri defender getting flagged, but I don't hear it when Crockett or Witter lower their head and initiate helmet contact.
Of the seniors, J'Mon Moore will get drafted. Check out the podcast we did earlier. Chavous compares him favorably to a former SEC wideout who was a second-rounder. Otherwise, maybe Frazier late.
I'll go over by a win or two.
No indication that Ramey has much interest in Mizzou. If Gordon is having any second thoughts about SLU he's kept them quiet of late.
When Kansas pulled away by 17, Mizzou came back and cut it to seven with Harris at the line to cut it to five. So, whatever they did there during that stretch seemed to work.
Tennessee, Nebraska and maybe Arkansas. The market could impact who Mizzou would interview but if Sterk believes a change is needed, he'll make a change and not base it off who those schools MIGHT hire.
I didn't report that figure. It was another outlet. But that sounds about right. Sometimes, yes, I see the value in using a search firm. In the case of hiring Jim Sterk, yes, it was a good idea. Foley had zero experience making AD hires. Sterk was a search firm hire.Without the firm, MU wouldn't have hired him. Otherwise, MU has used firms to help manage searches (travel, interviews, contact, etc,) not necessarily to identify candidates. People make the mistake of saying Mizzou hired a search firm to hire Kim Anderson or Barry Odom. No, not at all. They hired a search firm to conduct the process ... that ultimately ended with the AD hiring those coaches.
No. He and Kim weren't on the best terms. Link wasn't universally loyal to Kim by any means. He wanted to see the program thrive and he didn't enjoy the last couple years any more than anyone else.
OK, folks. I've got to run and do some interviews. We'll do this again next week. Thank you
