One game won't make or break his draft stock. What about when Jontay clearly outplayed the two SEC players of the year (Maten, Williams) during the regular season? Or when he went for 13-8-3-2 in only 26 minutes against Kentucky's flock of NBA draft picks? The NBA drafts on potential more than the NFL. His potential as a 6-11 stretch four or five is huge.
I voted for Martin for SEC coach of the year, so I'm convinced he can coach. Mizzou tied for fourth place in the SEC without a true point guard and without three of the six newcomers from a top five recruiting class when the league was deeper than ever before.
They're just looking at the best combinations. They like Sparks and Acy at corner. Sparks played well as a freshman last year. Acy has a ton of upside. Has to clean up his coverage skills. He's too talented to commit as many penalties as he did last year. But his size makes him intriguing on the outside. Hilton is a good athlete but hasn't been the most physical or consistent player. They need to keep their options open back there before you really commit to playing guys at certain spots in August.
OK, folks. Back to the ball game. This chat moved about as swiftly as Carlos on the mound. We'll do this again next week.
