Great question. Here's how I'd measure the coaches: Track record, recruiting, player development. We're talking total package. Just not if they get more of out less or if they can recruit five stars.
This is off the top of my head without a lot of research, but ...
1. Rick Barnes
2. John Calipari
Then I think you've got these six in just about any order: Ben Howland, Frank Martin, Bruce Pearl, Mike Anderson, Cuonzo Martin and Tom Crean. You can probably convince me of any six in any order. To some degree, they've all worn out their welcome at one school or more, but also had legit success. No deep NCAA runs or conference titles for Martin, so I could hear an argument that's a few steps behind the others.
From there, I'd go Kermit Davis, Mike White, Avery Johnson, Billy Kennedy, Bryce Drew, Will Wade.
And I wouldn't be bothered if you slip any of those six into the second tier.
