Today's column was a revisiting of the predictions I made in early January.
At that time I needed to see more from Martinez.
Could he stay healthy? Could he dial up the velocity? Could be hurdle over his first-inning issues?
He answered some of those questions this spring.
He's strong and healthy. He can let it rip. His focus is there.
Thing is, Kim looked just as good. Didn't allow a run. His stuff has hitters baffled.
Both looked prime for starting gigs until this shutdown, which gives Mikolas time to get right if he can.
If that happens, we are back to 6 guys for a 5-man rotation, and yeah, Martinez could push Kim to the pen.
Thing is, how will Martinez respond to this layoff?
A picture that was going clearer just got really cloudy again.
