I think people are making far too big of a deal about the position, when it should be about the at-bats.
Get mad if the numbers stay the same and Edman has fewer at-bats than Carpenter in 2020.
But in terms of positions, it makes a whole lot more sense to send Edman moving around the infield and outfield than Carpenter. Edman is the better, more versatile defender.
It's about the at-bats, not the positions played.
