Great story! Not at all surprised to hear that about Larry.
The Kolten Wong trolling is rising to the level of the epic Jon Jay Troll from yesteryear.
No, I give Binnington another chance. Kuemper did a fine job playing in a good defensive system, but it will take more than some ups and downs in one season to move on from a Cup winner.
Neither is preferable, but Parayko still has untapped potential and he has a little term left on a team-friendly deal. Pietrangelo is a much better player, but he turns 31 next season and he has played a TON of NHL hockey. Whatever contract he signs will look bad in his later years. If he signs elsewhere, his new team will pay him for what he did for his old team, as the Angels have done with Pujols.
Yes they can win. I think it was Kris Versteeg on NHL Radio reminding us that Cup winning teams win the game below the faceoff dots with tough play down low. Adding Corey Perry and Joe Pavelski really helped the Stars in that regard, as did Jamie Benn's revival.
That scenario could play out. If he gets into that second arbitration year and can't agree on long-term money here, than Mozeliak would have to explore that.
Toronto seems unwilling to clear the necessary cap space. If I had to pick one team, it would be Colorado.
If I had to pick one, I would take Parayko for his youth and the cap space it saved.
I believe Faulk can be a 40-point defenseman if he gets power-play time. He can also play 22 minutes a night in a good second pairing. For this season I have a hard time believing we will see Pietrangelo, Parayko, Dunn and Faulk all back together next season. In that scenario one guys gets squeezed off the PP.
Edmundson was one of those guys who has played long enough to get real money but hasn't played well enough to be a strong Top 4 guy. Carolina added Brady Skjei and decided not to go forward with Joel. But he played pretty well this season.
All this Yolmer Sanchez chatter is puzzling. I had to double-check to make sure he is a real person.
Shattenkirk for sure has a future in broadcasting if he wants. Super chatty guy.
That would not be a shocker. It could take the Cardinals a while to dig out financially and there are not spending limits in LA.
OK, that it for today. Gotta run. I got in early and have to get out a bit early,
That No. 3 will have to sign a two-way deal and potentially play in the AHL. Not sure James goes there.
There would be no money for that. If Alex goes, there might be a bit of money for one mid-range veteran. The rest would go to player retention.
I don't know that and I do not have time to look it up.
OK, gotta run. Be safe out there. See you next time. Oh, and shout out to Kolten Wong for going deep. Maybe the Kolten Wong troll has gotten to him.
