I still believe this is a playoff team. The Cardinals played almost a month without their most important leader, Yadier Molina. They had their ace on the DL for a month. Their bullpen has been ravaged by injuries. They've not gotten the production they expected from their outfield and they have been without one of their best sluggers for a month. Yet, they're still in contention. They will play better as they get healthy, but they must figure out a way to improve the bullpen.
I'm afraid you may be right. At this point, he has all the power with a no-trade clause and very little value even if he waived the no-trade clause.
I'm going to say Luke Gregerson. I have a lot of respect for his professionalism and his competitiveness. He's a gamer. I think he'll be a key reliever once he's fully healthy. Don't give up just yet on Greg Holland even though it doesn't look very good right now. He's a former All-Star who surely couldn't have completely lost it so quickly.
Keep an eye on Peru. I think they might go further in the tournament than many people might expect. I like Panama as a surprise team out of Group G, but that may be just because I think it would be hilarious for Panama to beat England.
I wouldn't quite say that, but it will definitely be a big week for the Cardinals. They must take care of business against the rival Cubs, Phillies and Brewers.
It would be difficult to convince a team to take him. Then you actually have to persuade him to waive his no-trade clause. He holds all the cards with the Cards, so to speak.
That is a very good question. He deserves consideration for the All-Star Game, but Cardinals fans must rally for him.
Preach on, my friend. The Cardinals need Machado. They also need some relief help too, though.
He's a two-time All-Star. If you look at the numbers, his stats at this point in the season are similar to what he had last year at this point. He's barely warming up.
The Cardinals will put them on the 60-day disabled list when they need to.
St. Louis will not host a World Cup game. St. Louis didn't bid to be a host city and thus wasn't listed in the United bid that was submitted to FIFA during the inspection process.
Mike Maddux has done a masterful job with the pitching staff. Unfortunately, many Cardinals relievers have suffered injuries.
Thanks for joining this chat. I have to rush to Busch Stadium for pregame access. Take care. See you next week.
