As long as the starters are healthy, the Cardinals just need to get past April before you can expect Flaherty and Reyes to be ready and able to help. If the Cardinals don't make a trade for Archer this spring, I wouldn't expect a deal for a starter until the trade deadline if the team appears like a playoff contender at that point.
This actually made me laugh. I'll pass this suggestion along.
Change is difficult, so I bet there will be headaches for all teams early on.
Reyes is the type of young arm who could carry this team down the stretch, so it's fair to put high expectations on him.
Trust me, I want the games to go quicker as well.
I've been cooking for my family on lent. I have a new shrimp pasta dish that they love, so I haven't gone to a fish fry this year.
No, but you made me laugh.
As you know, schools do not release the Title IX investigation to the public. I'll have to check, but did Goodwin's father say how his son's Civil Rights were violated?
Thanks. I had tremendous respect for Joe. He's one of the all-time greats, and I take your comparison as the ultimate compliment. I'm truly not worthy, but thank you.
I know you're joking, but sadly we are at a point when many fans actually praise teams for tanking. I hate tanking because it lets some major league teams charge big league prices for minor-league baseball. The fans lose when teams are allowed to tank, and this year promises to be among the worst tanking seasons ever. You can argue that a third of the teams in baseball are tanking, and that's a damn shame.
I'm sure they do surveys on this subject.
Oh my. Here we go top to bottom: Bill DeWitt Jr., Drayton McLane, Jim Crane, AEG, Tom Stillman, Fred Wilpon, Vince Naimoli. I've been blessed to cover great ownership groups. Naimoli didn't have the cash or patience to go through his initial plan with the inaugural Devil Rays. I don't think Wilpon spends enough for the Mets. McLane was always willing to spend when needed. Crane had a smart plan and executed to win the Astros' first World Series title five years after he bought the team. Stillman is a very good owner. I bet you 75 percents of the sports fan bases would love to have a team owner as committed as DeWitt.
To further improve their chances they should acquire Chris Archer.
My column clearly stated that Bishop was not recruited by Ford.
Wacha answered plenty of questions about his health last season, but I'm sure he wants to get to the next level and throw 200 innings consistently.
We'll agree to disagree. I see what you're trying to say, but I disagree. Thanks for disagreeing without being disagreeable.
Cepeda is Puerto Rican. He's not Cuban. I'm including him in my prayers. He's one of the true legends of the game, and he had an amazing run in St. Louis even though it wasn't very long.
Thank you for participating in this chat. See you next week. I'll have my chat live from Jupiter next week, so let's hope we can go at least four hours next Wednesday.
